Last week the focus was about introducing new habits to focus on you so you can think about what went well and why, as well as introducing simple and effective relax & breathe techniques into your day.
Let’s expand on this a bit with this post. It can also be helpful to think about what you have found challenging over the week.
You can note down - in a book or on your phone - what you found challenging throughout the week and why. It can be short and to the point or you can write paragraphs - whatever works for you and the time you have.
Note - if you keep it brief, it may feel less like a chore and become easier to achieve. You can then reflect on how you handled these challenges and would you have done anything differently.
There isn't a right way to do this, it's about getting started and finding what works for you. By creating a consistent habit of bringing these tools into your life, they become familiar and easier to use.
It's a quick way of making time for you, to remind yourself of what is going well and acknowledging the challenges, how you deal with them and thinking about what you need.
And let’s not forget about using your breathing
Last week we looked at kickstarting your day with some breathing focus so now let’s focus on using your day during your day.
It’s really useful to practise relax & breathe for a minute or two during your day to ease any tension or stress.
You can focus on your breathing:
as you go for a walk
in a queue
on the loo
as you prepare/eat food
when you put the kettle on
on the train
at your desk
or you could just sit for a couple of minutes
Relax & Breathe For During Your Day
Make it your own – fit it into your day where it works best for you. And you can do it more than once, using it as you need it to ease stress, tension or anxiety or every time you go for a wee or pop the kettle on.
Relax & Breathe is for everyone but if you are pregnant you will benefit from using it frequently throughout the day so it becomes familiar and easier to use in labour.
The important thing is to do it, maybe even set a reminder on your phone.
It’s investing just a few minutes in you.
