From a lovely birthday week of love and family, to a hospital appointment with tests and a weekend of discomfort. But I'm grateful to be looked after, to rest and nap. I have read, listened to podcasts, eaten chocolate and cuddled cats.
And there's nothing like a health issue to focus the mind - my ambitions are clearer, as is the gratitude for my life. I'm happy with my lot, I have the people who matter, I do work that is appreciated, I live a content life with no regrets.
Here's what I have taken from this week
* I have really needed to use my breathing for calm, pain and discomfort.
* I needed a gynaecological procedure, which was potentially challenging due to my previous birth trauma. But talking to the doctor and being supported by a great team of nurses made a huge difference to me. It really helped to correct the lack of care and support I experienced 16 years ago and was a reminder of how care and kindness makes all the difference.
* Sometimes we just have to be patient, to wait, to rest, to live with a little uncertainty.
* And it’s been a reminder of just how brilliant the NHS is. Despite its struggles and limitations, there's no financial burden at the point of use and it still manages to provide essential care. I can't imagine life without it.
We are all different, with our own individual stresses and pressures but this week has been about thinking over what matters and I think it’s important to notice the small things in our lives - to take in a view, to enjoy a taste, to take a moment to pause.
